A softer red

Before the 20th century, pink was the colour "for boys": It was a softer red. Somewhere, pink became "for girls".

Now it is silly to be that pedantic again. Our perceptions shift, anything For A Group is weakly attached. If the group existed to start with, that is.

I am baffled: A formerly neutral, joyful chocolate egg manufacturer now has "pink" and "blue" versions.
