I see it differently

Sometimes when I feel a strong pull towards conflict, I play with this.

I say: "I see it differently" — and then pause completely. Resisting the urge to explain, expound, or expand.

Letting that phrase rest there so that I figure out how I see it differently.

Sometimes the conversation then leads to curiousity, where we both try to figure out how differently we are seeing it.

Sometimes it leads to more conflict, and then at least I know where I am coming from.
