Interdependent

Obligation while relating with others is a destructive force that will eventually destroy what is true between people.

In an interdependent relationship: Existing in obligation is unhealthy.

The exception that proves this rule is kids: Kids did not choose to be in this world. It is a dependent relationship. And it being so, there is an obligation to take care of them.

Adults are not kids. Our relationships can grow up too.
