Listening harder

While playing squash it starts to hail loudly on the roof. I lose track of the ball: I cannot find it and cannot follow it when I do.

I learned that day that sight is not my primary way of sense-making for squash. The soundscape is how I orient myself.

Now whenever I fail to see what is going on, I think of hail on the roof and start to listen harder.
