New Road

A major off-ramp from the primary national highway in South Africa is called "New Road".

New. Road.

I imagine an urban planner drawing a new map, putting the label "new road" on there, and calling it a day. Then no one bothered to name it, and it squeaked. As a no-name, incomplete piece of work.

Most days, this irks me greatly.
Some days, I admire that people could let that happen.

The name does not matter in the grand scheme of things, and it functions perfectly as a road.
