The Nether-lands

In a conversation this year, I finally clicked that "the Netherlands" means "the under-lands". I learned this word before I learned English and the word "nether".

I was 17. Bragging out loud what I believed all my young life: That I beat my mom at chess when I was 4. Only by saying it out loud realising how preposterous that belief was.

I lacked context and the capacity to connect what I have learned and started to believe.

As I verbalise my thoughts and beliefs, I uncover more and more from the Nethers. Having more context and capacity now, I am updating many thoughts and beliefs. Forming deeper connections.

Doing so with still limited context and capacity, I look forward to that future where I uncover my next "the Netherlands".
