Trusting taxis

In South Africa, we have minibus taxis that are agents of chaos on the road. With a disregard for safety and rules they drive like maniacs.

These are the cliched truths about them.

This is also true: They are incentivised to do so. They have to meet or exceed quotas to scrape together an income.

They are also expert drivers. Highly aware of traffic patterns. Deeply in tune with tonnes of steel moving together.

I have come to trust taxis. They will do what they do. I can work with that.
