Gravity and coffee

Picking up a cup of coffee, it falls out of my hand and spills all over me.

On reflection, that is not what happened - it did not fall.

This happened:

Picking up a cup of coffee, I momentarily forget I am holding on to it, and I let it go.

It is a small distinction, but it is the difference between owning what happened and blaming gravity.
